(01)The challenge

Owners of small UAE businesses keep receipts in a drawer and meet their numbers once a quarter, when the VAT return is due.

Mizaniya needed an app a café owner would open every morning — fast, bilingual and built around the UAE’s tax rules rather than translated from somewhere else.

(02)Our approach

The home screen answers one question: what will the balance be at month’s end, with rent and supplier bills already in the forecast. Receipts are scanned and matched — supplier, TRN, total and 5% VAT — and filed in a category. Invoices go out bilingual with the TRN in place, and the VAT payable for the quarter is always visible. Every screen is mirrored in Arabic on one design system with two directions.
