(01)Restaurant concept · Manama
Bayt Lulu
Positioning, naming and concept for a Manama restaurant that tells the story of pearling — from 180 candidate names to one, a seven-course menu in five chapters and a seven-moment guest journey.

(01)The challenge
Gulf dining in Manama splits in two: heritage houses that are warm but static, and modern kitchens that are precise but could be anywhere.
A new restaurant wanted to put the Gulf on the plate without the costume — and needed a name, a story and a plan the whole team could build from.
(02)Our approach
We charted six comparable concepts and found the open water between heritage and contemporary: Manama’s pearling house, every course a chapter of the sea. Naming moved from 180 candidates in Gulf Arabic and English to 24, then six finalists scored with the client team — Bayt Lulu, “house of pearls”. A 64-page bilingual concept book sets the menu, service rituals and materials, and a seven-moment journey paces the evening from arrival to farewell, with a starter kit for opening night.
